How To Get The Queen's Look ?
Let's Go Gorgeous!
THE LOOK: For Queen Latifah's red carpet look Sam Fine decided
to enhance Latifah's classic style with a hint of color, using subtle
shades of purple and natural brown hues to complement her gown
and create a lovely glow.
EYE: Fine decided to use an eggplant shade -- CoverGirl Eye
Enhancers 4-Kit in Ice Princess ($5.61, drugstore.com) -- to contrast
with her purple gown, because it's an easier shade to wear than lilac
and is closer to brown and mahogany tones. He applied the eye
shadow on the crease of the lid and underneath, for definition. He
then paired the eggplant with an opalescent beige shadow on the
eyelid to open up the eye. Fine also used eye liner for definition.
And you can't forget the lashes!
"I don't know anyone who can hit the red carpet without lashes,"
Fine said. Nothing gives an evening look that extra hint of glam like
falsies. He applied long, curled false lashes to help make Latifah's
eyes pop, topping it off with a coat of mascara, which helps to fuse
your own natural lashes to the false ones.
CHEEK:Luckily for Fine, Queen Latifah already has a great
complexion, not to mention a nice, post-vacation tan. He
accentuated her assets with bronzer -- CoverGirl Queen Collection
Natural Hue Minerals Bronzer in Brown Bronze ($8.18 at drugstore.
com) -- topped with a layer of rose-colored blush. He then layered
on a rose colored blush on top of the bronzer. The bronzer-and-
blush combo gives a nice golden glow with a hint of color.
LIP:Fine let us in on an important tip: never forget the liner! "Liner is
a step I never skip," he said, "even when doing a nude lip, especially
on women of color. It really helps to define the lip." In addition to the
all-important liner, Fine accentuated Latifah's lips with lipstick and
gloss -- CoverGirl Wetslicks AmazeMint in Pink Positive ($6.25 at
drugstore.com) -- in neutral mauve tones.
She looks absolutely gorgeous ! .

If you are a regular reader, you KNOW I adore any kind of lip stain. The best
kind to have (in my opinion) are the marker types because you have more
control in the way that they are applied. In the summer (or if you are on vacation
somewhere sunny), I usually only wear a lip stain topped with lipgloss and
that's it. When the gloss wears off you still have color on your lips....PLUS
waterproof. Brilliant....
So imagine my shock & awe while I was in CVS the other day and I saw these
new lip stains called Cover Girl’s Outlast Lipstain! They were designed by
legendary makeup artist Pat McGrath in 10 jawdropping shades (most of the
time you only see 4 at the most even from higher end lines). So I grabbed a
couple. Here are the shades available:
• Everbloom Kiss
• Plum Pout
• Bit of Blossom
• Coy Coral
• Berry Smooch
• Wild Berry Wink
• Teasing Blush
• Flirty Nude
• Sassy Mauve
• Cinnamon Smile
I wore Cinnamon Smile (applied at 10 am) all day yesterday and still had color
on after lunch and up to around 4 pm. Cover Girl’s Outlast Lipstains are
available now in drugstore retailing at around $7.99.
